Laila Ali Prevented Hulk Hogan Suicide During 'Gladiators' Filming

It seems that Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali have a much deeper connection than just being co-hosts of American Gladiators. In his new tell-all book, Hogan claims that Ali saved his life.In the book, titled My Life Outside the Ring, Hogan says that he was ready to end his own life, when a phone call from Ali interrupted him and ultimately prevented him from doing the unthinkable.
In December of 2007, when the new Gladiators was about to hit television screens across North America, Hulk Hogan spent an evening drinking, taking Xanax, and getting some female attention at a strip club. At the time he was in the middle of an ugly separation (and ultimately, divorce) from his wife Linda, and was depressed when he came home to an empty house. According to The New York Daily News, Hogan had his gun at the ready, with his finger on the trigger, when Laila Ali called to check in on him.
Ali had noticed Hogan looking "distracted" on the set of American Gladiators. Fortunately her concern for her co-host came at exactly the right time, and she was able to talk him off the ledge, so to speak.
Hogan's book will be available for purchase on October 27th, 2009.

I wonder if he’s getting counseling a suicide attempt could be a sign of underlying mental illness, not simply a temporary state of sadness from life events.

Hulk loved his family deeply. Worked his butt off to get them and his ex wife everything they had. Drinking, strip clubs, are just escapes from unhappiness. Yes, he probably needs some counseling. who wouldn’t after your life was pulled from under you? Money cannot buy happiness!

I read his first book. In typical “Hollywood” fashion, he took credit for things that may or may not have been his mental conjurings. However, with all that has happened between he and his wife, I am very certain that there are other factors that we will not ever hear. NO break-up/divorce is ever one-sided. Personally, this sounds like PR for his new book. Also, it sounds like a lame excuse to stay in the limelight. Maybe he ought to interrupt Taylor Swift at an awards show. That is a sure fire guarantee to keep him in the public eye. My opinion only.

Thank God for Laila Ali’s timing! A friend in deed can sometimes pick up on little things that can save a friends life!! We all make mistakes and have are crosses to bare but suicide just hurts more people! We are much better off having Hulk in our lives than out of it! Yes the car accident was tragic and I feel for their family but picking on someone when they are down and out is not an admirable thing! Feel blessed that U R blessed! PS Not a wrestling fan!

Whether or not you like Hulk or love him, his decline is pretty sad. This man literally worked his butt off to provide and keep Linda in the style she has had, and now she is sharing the house Hulk paid for with a younger man, who is mainly living off of her. This affected the kids too, especially their daughter. By the way she is no prize package, and eventually she will show her age too. I think he looks pretty good, given that he has been bounced around in the arena for many, many years. He did not go behind her back, she did that to him. We don’t know the full story, because there are always 2 sides, but give the guy some credit..no one is perfect, and it is pretty easy to sit in your home and write bad things about someone.

Guess all the money don’t help you when it comes to things like this. Look at his show on TV, what a mess that family is anyway. But if it was not a mess, it would not be a show. I lived just down the street from them in Miami Beach. I seen him at the liquor store on Alton Road next to Burger King two years ago. He did not look too good then either.
I agree that hulk kept Lynda in her lifestyle.He was depressed and that can happen to rich or poor.Give him a break.

In one of those TV shows, he ask Linda where she thought the money came from. She never did have a good answer.
Reminded me of the same question I asked my ex wife. Not a very good answer either. I guess the hulk and I have something in common after all.
i watched the show, grew up watching Hulk in the ring. Met him personally once. He seems so genuine. Yes, there are always two sides to every story, but Hulk worked for what he had…has every right to feel sad and grieve. I’m glad he didn’t commit suicide. He’s a human being who was, is and probably will always hurt. It’s so easy to judge and talk mess about people…but that’s just sad..I’m sure if you asked Hulk, he’d exchange his money for a happy family anytime…ask Linda the same question..what would her answer be?

If you lack the character to agree, then fire your cheap shots on some other web forum, like MTV, or CURRENT-TV, where trashy behavior is embraced and encouraged.
I actually think HH looks pretty good for his age and his new girlfriend may help him be younger still. I saw way before it was news that Linda (who is really unhappy with herself because she has no skills or talent) was jealous of her daughter’s growing notoriety and Hulk’s fame. She will be the unhappiest in the end I’m sure because it is only being HH’s wife that we even would know of her. Eventually, Linda will frivoulously blow her share of Hulk’s fortune and be left on her own. How selfish she is and what goes around will come around.It’s only because Hulk is a family man with a long past that he’s had a tough time as any decent person would in dealing with it all. He didn’t get to his level of success being weak. He will be even happier in the end without Linda nobody.

Some of you people have no compassiona at all. Very few of you have ever had the love of your life suddenly treat you like a pile of dog do, take all you have worked for and leave you for another guy. I did after 20 years of marriage and it totally destroyed me. I didn’t commit suicide but I really wanted to. Even today, I feel she destroyed me. Most of you have no idea what it does to you mentally and physicaly. I’m sorry for you Hulk, as a man, not as a wrestler. I’m NOT a wrestling fan but I still know your pain! True love knows no bounds!
