Tickets for Game Show Tapings - Pyramid, Dating Game, and 5th Grader

Tuesday June 2, 2009
We may have lost the prime time show, but the syndicated daytime version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? is going full steam ahead.

Taping for the show, which has been casting for several weeks, will begin next Thursday, June 11th. If you're interested in attending a taping, head over to On Camera Audiences for free tickets. This show is taped in Hollywood.

Also, episodes for two new-again game shows that are being considered by CBS are ready to tape. You can get audience tickets for these as well, but you have to sign up as a member with OnSet Productions first (membership is free). Then, fill out a request for $1,000,000 Pyramid and/or The Dating Game tickets. Both shows tape in New York City.

Big thanks to Chad Mosher for the heads-up on these! If you're planning to attend any of these recordings, please let me know - I'd love to hear about them.

I’m a little perturbed, I responded to the casting calls for Pyramid and Fifth Grader and got no response from both. I suppose I will simply attend a taping in the audience and hope that I can get more information about being a contestant. I requested tickets and provided I am able to attend I will be happy to answer any questions.

I just hope the other game show that I will be appearing on doesn’t interfere, It’s called Jury Duty, :P lol

Don’t stress it Jason – 5th Grader is still looking for contestants (the call is open until the end of the month). And Pyramid was only casting for a handful of people to start off with. If the show is confirmed, they’ll be looking for more. :-)

And jury duty – blech! My sympathies!

Oh good, so there is still hope. I just really hope that the show is confirmed, it will be nice having another game show that tapes in my area.

Yeah, it’s really boring, but I don’t mind it too much, I’m off from school now so I hardly have anything better to do. Plus it’s extra money. :D

I wonder of Donny Osmond will return to host Pyramid. John O’Hurley could also be a choice since the tapings would be closer to his home state of Connecticut, but he’d do so much travel with Family Feud in Los Angeles as well.

(5) Wayne says:

Yesterday was the big day for my audition for the new Pyramid. In the room for my audition was the interviewer, someone else who works at Embassy Row to play along in a mock game, and a third person that seemed as if she simply decided to sit in as well.

I’m not sure what I was really expecting to see as far as the workplace at Embassy Row, but the main area was just rows of tables with people staring at monitors. It was very quiet in there—not something I would’ve imagined it to be like.

I was in a conference room with the three people, they filmed my interview and mock games. I did great in the games, I think I did well in the interview, so hopefully I’ll be chosen to be on the show.

Going into this, I knew it was for a pilot, not a full taping for a show to air. This means that if I get called, there will probably not be any money involved. I will do it anyway just for the experience, and because that may just give me an advantage if they make me go through an audition process in the future. It may also have me on a list of contestants for when they do film the “real” show.

(thought I’d add the “S” in my name since it looks like we have another person named Jason here. I’m the one who made the first post)

Good luck Wayne! If and when the show goes on and I see someone named Wayne, I’ll assume it’s you and root you on. I’m hoping to get an audition myself.

(7) gameshows says:

Best of luck to you Wayne – I hope we end up seeing you on the show, even if this first taping is just for the pilot! Please keep us updated.

Jason S. I’m rooting for you too!

And to the other Jason, a lot of people are wondering about Donny Osmond, but I just can’t see it happening. And John O’Hurley has his hands plenty full with Family Feud.

I’m just hoping it’s not someone like Billy Bush hosting this thing.

Thanks Carrie! :)

I watched a video of the revival of Let’s Make a Deal (2003) on YouTube, and I actually enjoyed it. What’s wrong with Billy Bush, I admit he isn’t the best game show host but I didn’t see anything wrong with him.

(9) Dan says:

I also has an audition last Tuesday. I thought I did VERY well as one of the girls at Embassy told me I won the Winner’s Circle round in record time!

Hoping with great excitement that I get a call to be on next week’s pilot.

Dan, that’s great! If you haven’t got the call yet, here’s hoping it comes soon.

Taping starts next week, so this is all very exciting!

I myself had thought a long time ago that I hope eventually that Pyramid would come back and make the prize more then $100,000 and it came true. I was going to create a game show call Million Dollar Pyramid but I am happy that its going to happen and it came true for me. I have a lot more gameshows that I would like to create in the future and maybe be a gameshow host and/or announcer in the future. Message me back when u get this and give me some ideas for me to create gameshows for the usa and for canada in the future.

(12) Henry says:

What a bummer. My request for tickets to today’s taping of the pilot of “The Million Dollar Pyramid” was accepted. I made a special trip up to New York from D.C. to be in the audience for my all-time favorite game show. Then, yesterday, I get a call from Kelly at OnSet Productions informing me that CBS had to cancel today’s tapings because of a scheduling conflict. Major disappointment. Does anybody have more details about the host, music, set design, judging, rules, etc.? I have a million questions!

Hi Henry – there are details posted here:
http://gameshows.about.com/b/2009/06/17/some-details-on-the-new-pyramid.htm

Make sure you read the comments in that post – there’s a very detailed description of what happened yesterday.

So sorry to hear that you missed out though, especially after traveling to be there! Are you not able to attend on Friday?
