Caroline Rhea to Host Play it Back: Game Shows on GSN

Wednesday September 3, 2008
If you're a fan of retrospective specials, then this one was tailor made for you! Comedian Caroline Rhea, who has hosted The Biggest Loser and appeared on Hollywood Squares in addition to her role in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, will be hosting three specials on GSN which take a look back at past decades in game show history.

This Sunday, September 7th, Play it Back: Game Shows takes an in-depth look at 70s favorites Match Game, The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, Hollywood Squares, and Family Feud. September 14th rings in the 80s with coverage on Super Password, Tic Tac Dough, Love Connection, Family Feud, and Wheel of Fortune. Finally, on September 21st, we'll get to see game shows of the 90s including Wheel of Fortune, Hollywood Squares, Family Feud, Jeopardy!, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

These shows will feature interviews and commentary from the likes of Bob Eubanks, Wink Martindale, and Chuck Woolery, as well as perspectives from stars such as Gilbert Gottfried, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Bob Goen. And of course we'll also be treated to a variety of classic game show moments and bloopers. Plus, viewers will be able to win prizes in the Play it Back Retro-Fit Sweepstakes.

The week prior to each Play it Back: Game Shows special will feature programming from that decade, and viewers have the opportunity to vote for their favorite shows. Each special is one hour in length, and airs at 7pm Eastern.

She needs to be on tv more often. Leaving Biggest Loser was a good choice for her. Hopefully, she’ll be able to do more of her own comedy here.

Once again, GSN has done it! I love Caroline Rhea… I agree with the other comment – we need more Caroline Rhea. Also, I watched the ’70’s game shows special last night and it was great. You always see other shows trying to do flashback specials, but none of them can even compare to this GSN three part special. I’m looking forward to the other two :)
