The annual About.com Readers' Choice Awards are underway, and the finalists have been chosen. Here are the five finalists for Best Game Show Host, as nominated by readers, viewers, and fans. All finalists in all categories are listed alphabetically.
Polls are open for voting, so once you've taken a look through the list of finalists, follow the link at the bottom to place your vote. Voting is limited to once per category, per day. There are nine other Game Show categories you can vote in as well, and these are also linked at the bottom of the page.
Thanks to everyone who made nominations and best of luck to all of the nominees! Voting will close on March 21st, and the winners will be announced on March 30th.
Drew Carey (The Price is Right)
Drew Carey took over hosting The Price is Right when Bob Barker decided to retire in 2007, and since then he's made the show his own while still keeping the spirit of the game intact. That's not an easy task when the outgoing host has been at his post for 35 years! Carey brings his "everyman" appeal to Price, relating well to contestants and seeming to truly enjoy his job.
Steve Harvey (Family Feud)
Like many modern game show hosts Steve Harvey was already well established in his career before joining Family Feud. From stand-up comedey to sitcoms, talk shows, and radio, Harvey has become prolific in various forms of media. He joined Family Feud in 2010, following John O'Hurley's departure. His quick wit is the perfect match for Feud and he can be found laughing with the contestants almost as often as he makes them (and us!) laugh ourselves.
Todd Newton (Family Game Night)
Todd Newton is a new addition to the Readers' Choice Awards, but he's not new to game show hosting. Newton has helmed original game shows for GSN, including Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck, and he's been one of the hosts of the live stage version of The Price is Right in Las Vegas. Newton's nomination this year comes for his work with Family Game Night which has appealed to both kids and adults alike. His easy-going manner makes children feel comfortable on the show, even while tackling extreme challenges.
Pat Sajak (Wheel of Fortune)
Last year's winner of the Readers' Choice Award for Best Game Show Host was Wheel of Fortune's Pat Sajak, and it's easy to see why. Sajak deals with three different contestants in every episode and he's been doing this since 1981 - remarkable when you also consider that he makes every episode as fresh as the last one.
Alex Trebek (Jeopardy!)
Hailing from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Alex Trebek is synonymous with Jeopardy! He has worked on a wide variety of game shows, including High Rollers and Classic Concentration, and continues to host the National Geography Bee in Canada and the United States. His body of work includes numerous appearances on sitcoms, dramas, and movies as well as voiceovers for animated works. He is the most-often parodied game show host on the planet, and he takes it all in stride.
Now that you've met the five finalists, it's time to place your vote for Best Game Show host! Remember that you can vote once in each category every day, so don't forget to return tomorrow.
