The Bottom Line

If you like clip shows, done in the style of America's Funniest Home Videos but with a more sarcastic host, then this DVD is for you. I got a kick out of seeing Bob Barker with dark brown hair again, and the scenes from the British game show Distraction are absolutely hilarious. Game Show Moments Gone Bananas is kitschy and fun, and with five full episodes on the DVD, it'll keep you entertained for hours. Even the in-studio segments are fun – mostly because they're blessedly short and the prizes are extraordinarily lame.

Guide Review - 'Game Show Moments Gone Bananas' DVD Review

Game Show Moments Gone Bananas enjoyed a five-episode run on VH1 in 2005, and now you can get all five episodes on this DVD. The show was lighthearted and fun, just like a good game show, and hosted by Ben Stein.

Through a mass of clips that we've seen before, there are some gems that are worth picking up the DVD for. Among them are clips from the pilot episodes of I'm With Stupid and Puzzlers, which never made it to air, and clips from the pilot episode of Match Game 1990 featuring Bert Convy as host.

The clips from the British shows are great, including those from Distraction, which are completely absurd. If you've not seen the show, you'll be online looking it up on YouTube after seeing the clips! Many of the clips feature some favorite hosts from today, including Pat Sajak and Bob Barker, back when they had more hair and the game show sets were noticeably less sophisticated.

This is definitely a DVD that's worth adding to your collection, containing lots of laughs and hours of entertainment.
