Host: Dennis Miller
Executive Producers: Mark Burnett and Roy Bank
Series Premiere: February 22, 2008
Network: NBC
Amne$ia is an original game show from the mind of Mark Burnett, who has had a string of hit game and reality shows including Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, Survivor, and The Apprentice.
How it Works:
Amne$ia is a trivia game show with a twist. Contestants are asked a series of questions, but the hook here is that the questions are actually based on the contestant's own life. Co-Executive Producer Roy Bank says, "… nothing should be easier than recalling the facts of your own life. Nothing will be more entertaining than watching contestants draw blanks." The game includes appearances by people who have played a part in the life of the contestant. Walks down memory lane will suddenly come with a price tag!
Round One:
The first round is a speed round of five questions, with each correct answer earning the contestant $1000. There is a time limit of 30 seconds here.
Round Two:
Friends and/or family are brought out for round two, while the contestant spends a few minutes in a sound-proof booth. Miller asks a few questions of the family member, getting a few laughs in the process. The contestant is then brought out and asked a few questions loosely based on the conversation Miller had with their friend or family member.
Round Three:
The final round has three questions, worth $25,000, $50,000, and $100,000 respectively. The catch here is that the contestant will lose the amount his or her question is worth if an incorrect answer is given. This round continues until the contestant wishes to stop, or runs out of money.
