There's nothing fancy about this Minute to Win It game, and it makes the perfect opener for a Minute to Win It party. It can be played by all ages too.
In Tea Party, two tea bags are attached to the bill of a baseball cap. Players must get both tea bags sitting on top of the bill by swinging their heads back and forth. As much fun as this game is to play, it's even more fun to watch as your friends and family try to succeed in under a minute.
Here's what you'll need to set up and play Tea Party at home.
- At least one baseball hat, that you don't mind putting staples or strong tape onto
- Two tea bags with strings (they look like this) per hat
- Stapler and staples, or duct tape
- A one-minute timer or stop watch
If you're planning on having a lot of people play this game, consider purchasing several hats in a variety of sizes for both kids and adults. The hats with the adjustable bands at the back are also a great idea. Keep a few spare tea bags and your stapler or tape handy as well, since you never know when they'll fly off the hats completely.
How to Set Up the Game
Setting up this game is really simple. All you need to do is attach one tea bag to each side of the bill on each baseball hat, using your stapler or duct tape. The tea bags should hang by their strings, and hang on either side of the head when the hat is worn. Make sure the strings are long enough for the tea bags to gain a bit of momentum when you rock your head back and forth, and that they can be flipped up so that they'll rest on the top of the brim.
See, now you've not only set up the playing equipment, but you've also practiced the game a little. Don't you feel clever?
How to Play
Playing the game is even easier than setting it up. Before the timer begins, put the hat on your head securely, making sure that the tea bags are hanging freely on either side of your face. Start the timer. Begin swinging your head back and forth to create a pendulum motion with the tea bags. Using only your head, flip the bags up so that they are both resting on top of the bill.
It's okay to flip one tea bag up first, and then the other - they don't have to go up simultaneously - but they both must be on top of the bill at the same time before the timer runs out, in order to win the game.
The rules for this game are as follows:
- You may not touch the hat or the tea bags with your hands
- If the hat falls off, replace it on your head and start over
- If a tea bag becomes dislodged and falls off, reattach or replace it and start the game over
Tips and Tricks
This is a pretty simple game once you understand that you don't need to move quickly or with great, energetic motions. Just get your momentum going and rock those tea bags into place. Rushing will only make the bags jump around, and even if they land where they're supposed to, they won't stay in place. Nice and easy does it.
