Stacking water jugs. That's all there is to Gettin' Juggy with It, one of the more straight-forward games from Minute to Win It. Of course with this show and its games, nothing is ever quite as easy to accomplish as it appears to be in summary. Did we mention that the water jugs in question are the five-gallon size?
The Goal
Stack four empty five-gallon water jugs one on top of the other to form a free-standing tower. Accomplish this in sixty seconds or less and you're golden.
Equipment Needed
Unless you have easy access to these jugs, they can be hard to find since most people return them for credit. Still, plenty of offices use them and you can purchase them full, so if you plan to play this game often then it's worth the investment. Just plan on drinking an awful lot of water between purchasing and playing. Here's all you need for this game:
- Four empty five-gallon water jugs of uniform shape
- A flat surface (don't try this gameon carpeting or grass, trust me on this)
- A one-minute timer or stop watch
Tip: Stuck without a timer? There are plenty of mobile apps for a variety of platforms that feature a timer. Some of them even come with the device, and those that don't are usually free.
How to Play
The only setup involved in Gettin' Juggy with It is to place the water jugs on the ground beside the spot that the contestant will be playing. That's it.
To play, start the one-minute timer. The contestant then begins stacking to make a four-jug tower. The tower must be completely free-standing, and the task must be completed before the sixty seconds are up.
The Rules
Rules, you say? Why yes, there are a few for Gettin' Juggy with It.
- The jugs may be stacked right side up or up side down, or in a combination of these two options. You cannot, however, stack them sideways.
- The tower must be free standing for three consecutive seconds, which fall within the sixty-second time limit, in order to win the game.
- If the tower falls over and there's still time left, the contestant can start over and keep trying until time runs out.
Tips and Tricks
While you can certainly choose your own bottle alignment, the simplest way to stack is to place the bottom jug right side up, with the second up side down on top of it. The small necks of the jugs seem to be tricky to line up, but once you get it right you'll have a solid base. Then repeat this formation for the final two jugs.

Suggestions and Modifications for Party Games
Gettin' Juggy with It is really the perfect Minute To Win It game for an office party, since the supplies you'll need are easily found. Just make sure that the floor surface you're playing on is flat and uncarpeted.
If you really want to make this game tricky, put some water in the jugs. You can fill them all the way up or just half way, but the water makes the bottles much more unstable and the game itself becomes extremely difficult. The contestant has to wait for the water to settle after placing each jug, and this can eat up serious chunks of the one-minute time limit.
For small kids who may want to use this as a birthday or Christmas party game, use smaller water bottles and consider using only three of them.
