Carnie Wilson: Unstapled is set to air on GSN starting in January, 2010. The program is a documentary-style reality show, focusing on Wilson as she tries to balance her family life with the rigorous schedule of a game show host and media personality.
Carnie Wilson is currently the host of The Newlywed Game, an original GSN program. The game show is in its second season, and is gaining momentum with the addition of celebrity contestants and same-sex couples.
Wilson is also the mother of two small children, one a newborn. She has had a very public struggle with her weight over the years, and the title of the show, Unstapled, refers to her successful stomach stapling surgery, which resulted in drastic weight loss several years ago.
In addition to family life and being a game show host, Wilson is undertaking some new endeavors. She is an avid baker, and is planning to market this skill with her own line of baked goods. She is also planning a clothing line, and there are tentative plans for her former band, Wilson-Phillips, to embark on a comeback tour.
GSN is very pleased with Carnie Wilson's work on The Newlywed Game, and this new reality show will make her more accessible to fans. This is the network's second attempt at original reality programming, after 2003's show, Chuck Woolery's Naturally Stoned. Woolery's show wasn't received well by viewers, and was eventually pulled from the lineup.
