My Game Show Wish List for 2012

By , About.com Guide   December 30, 2011

Follow me on:

2011 is very close to being just a memory now, and as we look forward to what game shows will bring us next year I'd like to share my wish list for 2012. Here we go!

1. Bring back Deal or No Deal - I'll catch some heat for this one, but let's get it out in the open. NBC is enjoying some popularity these days with the resurgence of Fear Factor and Who's Still Standing, and fans are still asking every day about Deal or No Deal. The show doesn't necessarily need to make a full-season return, but let's see some event programming for sweeps week, at least.

2. Second seasons for some new shows - Not all of the new game shows we saw this year were worth watching again, but some of them were a lot of fun. I hope we see more of the two shows mentioned above, as well as Million Dollar Mind Game and even Pumped.

3. More game shows in daytime - I know a lot of people enjoy talk shows, but I think we have more than enough to suit everyone by now, don't we? Let's start filling these daytime slots with more game shows. New ones are fine, but I know a lot of us would rather see a revamped Pyramid or some other classic games given new life. It's worked so far for Let's Make a Deal, so how about it networks?

4. All of you will get a chance to be a contestant! - I sincerely hope that all of you out there who have been filling out applications, going to casting calls and auditions, and hoping for the call to be on a game show will realize this dream in 2012. Best of luck to all of you, and let me know when you get those calls! I'm rooting for you!

What are you hoping for in 2012 in the world of game shows? And of course, Happy New Year!

I agree with you Carrie, especially because I’d love to be a contestant on Deal or No Deal! :D

I didn’t see Pumped or Million Dollar Mind Game so I can’t comment on that but new game shows in daytime would be great, I’ve been hoping for Pyramid for years, I like watching it and would love to be on it!

I’m glad 21 got cancelled. between the horrible host & the lousy money it was awful. I’m sorry to see baggage go, I found it very enjoyable. Bring back Love connection. Even in repeats it was better then many of the game shows currently on.
