We haven't done one of these in a while, so let's take a look at another game show and discuss how we'd change it up if we could. This time we'll put Cash Cab under the microscope.Cash Cab is a solid game that chugs along quietly without much fanfare. The show and its host, Ben Bailey, are Daytime Emmy Award winners. Discovery Channel brought us a second version of the show, Cash Cab Chicago in February, and I've been watching Cash Cab Canada for ages.
For some reason, the only controversy or real attention this show gets is when people question whether or not Cash Cab is real. This is strange to me, because I think it's a great game with a unique spin that should probably generate a bit more buzz.
So, if you had the opportunity to change the show in any way, what would you do? Would you want to liven things up somehow to get more attention, have some kind of tournament or other showdown, or do you think Cash Cab is just fine the way it is? Sound off in the comments section below!

Cash Cab is a Gimmick show! There is not much that you can change! The show works!
Ben is great. A truly worthy recipient of the Emmy. The show is fun. Contestants are chosen randomly, so you never get the same “knowledge” or “intelligence” level from one game to the next, which keeps it interesting. The “Red Light Challenge” is like the lightning round from “Password,” or even the secret square from “Hollywood Squares.” It give a little boost to the action in the middle of the questioning. When I saw a clip of the new gal in the Chicago version on-line, I didn’t care for her, but after watching one entire episode on Discovery, I’ve really warmed up to her. She’s not Ben, but that’s okay. She brings her own pizazz to the game. Both versions are staples in my daily tv watching. I cannot imagine what could possibly be changed to make the show “better.”
I don’t know if more can be done to “make it real”, they do have to produce a television show after all.
I’ve always loved this show, and it really taught me how to get around Manhattan, so that’s a plus.
The only change I would make is the video bonus, it should just be part of the game instead of an all or nothing decision. I know so many games have gotten to the all or nothing mentality these days, but that doesn’t mean it is necessary in every game, especially a low money game like this one.
Hi – I watch both Canadian and American cash cab – Tonight, I watched when Anne got into the US cab and answered questions by herself. She was very smart and at the end, didn’t use any of her call outs and had a dance question for the last question. Why didn’t the host “remind her” of her call outs because she didn’t get it right, and lost her $475.00 she so rightly earned. UNFAIR!!!!! She should have WON!!! I feel sorry for her that she wasn’t given a proper chance. She even got the red light challenge correct!!! He reminded the couple after her of their call outs and he phoned his Mom for the answer!!!!
