What's On Your Christmas Wish List?

By , About.com GuideDecember 18, 2009

Follow me on:

With Christmas only a week away, it's time to settle in and get things done. Shopping, wrapping, cleaning, baking - whatever the preparations are, many of us are kicking it into high gear now!

If you've still got some shopping to do and happen to have a fellow game show fan on your list, I've put together some gift suggestions for you. At the top of the list is Howie Mandel's new book Here's the Deal, Don't Touch Me, which I really enjoyed. What I'd really like to know, however, is what game show related stuff you've all asked for this season!

This year I've put a few game show things on my wish list, including this t-shirt from eBay (I'm not affiliated with the seller at all, and that's not an affiliate link). Now it's your turn! Let us know what you've asked for this year (aside from the return of Pyramid, of course!) in the comments section.

I’d love to have the Best of Password DVDs…I wish they’d release the Best of Pyramid on DVD!

Have a great holiday, Carrie…and everyone I’ve argued with here this year! ;)

I want trivia lockout buzzers.

I’ve been trying to build them, but can’t figure out how to allow only 1 light to be on at a time (the first one pressed).

I have to say this game show site has the best commenters–nobody being so over the top nitpicky about some facts/perceptions, constantly posting about how a show now sucks becuase the music changed or something like that.

It’s been nice to virtually meet everyone here, have a great holiday season!

Myke, the Password DVD set is fun – spent several hours with that one in the DVD player! I’d also love to see a “Best of Pyramid.” There’s another selling point for a revival – a “Best of” DVD would get a little boost! ;-)

Wayne, wish I could help you out – maybe someone else around here is more technically inclined though? And I agree – we do have a great community building up here!

Thank you, sincerely, for the kind words and holiday wishes. I hope you both have a fabulous and safe holiday too, and that Santa is good to you!

Happy Holidays everyone. To be honest I don’t really want anything game show related for Christmas; except of course to be able to go on another game show as a contestant!

And now that Wayne mentions it, Millionaire sucks ever since they changed their sound effects and music! :P lol

Wayne,
Check out DigiGames, Inc. at http://www.triviaparties.com.

They make all kinds of game show equipment for parties and business meetings…including lock-out buzzers, scoring displays, podiums (or is it “podia”?). Most of their stuff is easily portable.
It may not be cost effective for home use, but if your company, school or community group wanted to use trivia games for teaching, training or fund-raising, it is reasonably priced. I was looking at some of their stuff when I was producing a state lottery show for when we took the show on the road.

There are a few companies that make this stuff.
I just did a google search for game show equipment and got a lot of results.

Merry Christmas.

Thank you Myke25, I’ve found those before, but they cost more than I have to spend. If I was in a situation where I knew I was getting pitch meetings and may have to demonstrate my games, I wouldn’t think twice about getting the money together, but just for testing games with friends, it’s too much to put out.

At Jason S.–not as bad as when Pyramid went from $10K to $25K, that just killed it for me, how could they even think of doing such a thing? :p

So, how was everyone’s holiday? Was Santa good to you? ;-)

I got the shirt I asked for – well, technically I haven’t got it yet, as the seller sent the wrong item. But now I have a blue “Steve’s Scuba” t-shirt, and the Trebek one on the way. *lol* (The seller was apparently very good about everything, so no negativity there!)

Hope you all had a great time!
