Jeopardy! Kids Week - Registration Open
Monday July 6, 2009
Registration for the annual Jeopardy! Kids Week tournament is now open online. If your child is especially bright, and was born between 3/17/1997 and 3/16/2000, here's your chance to get him or her on the show. The registration can all be done online, and all of the information you need to know can be found at the official Jeopardy! website. The registration form itself must be completed by a parent or legal guardian, while the online test will have to be taken by the child. More on the test itself in a moment.
Here are some things to keep in mind when applying:
- First and foremost, read the eligibility FAQ and make sure your child is eligible to play.
- When filling in the registration forms, make note of your password. Your child will need that when he or she returns to take the test.
- The registration form is simple and straight-forward. Note that this is not an application - your child will have to pass the test first before being considered as a contestant.
The Jeopardy! online test consists of thirty clues, all in different categories. Your child will have twenty second to submit an answer for each clue. The answers are not to be given in the form of a question, and, while spelling is technically not graded, it helps a great deal to have answers spelled correctly.
If you register your child before July 31st, you'll receive a reminder e-mail on August 3rd. There is a lot of information about registration, the test itself, and how to take it at the website, so please take your time and read everything.
Best of luck to everyone who registers! For further information, including prize amounts and how the tournament works, please see our overview of Jeopardy! Kids Week.
