Now, I realize that we've had several categories and nominees already that have seemed a bit iffy, but I have to be a bit picky here with this one, Favorite Game Show Catch Phrase. First and foremost, "Big money, no whammy" - really? Who vetted these? Even if you're too young to have watched Press Your Luck when it originally aired, you probably know that the phrase is "Big bucks, no Whammies!"
Also, is "Circle gets the square" really a big one? I realize that Tom Bergeron was in the audience and presented Bob Barker with his Legend Award, but still, let's be serious here. I'd substitute that in a heartbeat with "I'll take __ for $1,000, Alex." Or maybe, "Do you want the money, or the mob?" I guess we should be grateful that "It's time ... to face ... the hole!" isn't there.
Still, there are some biggies in the mix, ones that have been picked up and widely used in movies, scripted television, and other media (and even in everyday conversation). One doesn't have to be a game show geek to know where "I'd like to buy a vowel" comes from.
If you'd like to vote in previous polls in this series, they're all still open. Here are the links:
