Deal or No Deal Daytime Renewed, Moving to CT

Sunday May 3, 2009
Well here's some interesting news. The syndicated daytime version of Deal or No Deal has been renewed, which is no surprise since it's performed very well this past season. However, the show will no longer be taping in Los Angeles.

Production for Deal will be moved to Connecticut for the second season. Yep, you read that right. Connecticut. Other syndies, including Maury and Jerry Springer, are already set to tape there, taking advantage of a 30% tax cut that the state of California simply can't afford to provide. Taping of Deal will happen at the Sonalysts Studio in Waterford, CT.

This is good news for anyone within driving distance of the new studio. Now you'll have an easier time of applying to be a contestant, and audience tickets should be opening up soon. Pretty exciting stuff for those who are unable to travel to L.A. to be part of a game show! At this moment I don't have any details on taping dates or audience tickets, but I'll post as soon as that information is available. In the meantime, I'm assuming the application process to become a contestant is still the same, except that you won't need to be available to travel to California for taping.

Now, this is purely conjecture on my part, but I wonder if this will have any effect on the prime time version of Deal or No Deal? If production costs go down by a significant amount, maybe there's hope that we'll see the show back in a regular slot in the coming months. The logistics of the move may be too complex, however, considering the number of people who would need to be flown in and back on a regular basis, not to mention the studio setup. I'd love to hear your opinion on this possibility though!

This is great news for me, I’d love to get on Deal or No Deal and since I live in NY, Connecticut is so much easier to travel to.

Please, keep us updated about when we can start applying to be a contestant. Thanks

I would go ahead and get your applications in now, guys! Here’s all the info you need:

Be a Contestant on Daytime Deal or No Deal

The app still says you’ll need to be in the S. California area, but you can ignore that part. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to help. :-)

(4) Jofus says:

I’d guess that if the nighttime version comes back (and I’ve heard how it does in the ratings this month of May will determine its future), it too would be taped in Connecticut.

Hopefully, Waterford will toss a parade for Howie Mandel and the models. Don’t invite The Banker!

(5) can't say says:

As somebody who worked on the show…this sucks.

Primetime could not move unless they replaced 90% of the models. I suppose they could live in CT for three months of taping…?

Seems unlikely.

(6) Sara Cerrone says:

Hello,
I was wondering if someone can tell me if Deal or No Deal is hiring for any jobs at this new location in CT? I live in CT and am a college graduate looking for a career.

May 4, 2009 at 11:57 pm
(7) gameshows says:

Hi Sara – that’s a good question. Definitely keep your eye out for job listings there! That’s not really my realm of expertise, but if I can find anything out I’ll definitely post it.

And “can’t say” – they’ll be flying Howie out there, and the Banker, and everyone else they need for the syndicated show. I can’t imagine it would be that expensive to fly the models out for a couple of months of taping, at least considering everything else.

(8) Manuela Rhoades says:

Hi, I’m a game show lover and I really would like to be a contestant on Deal or no Deal, or Wheel of Fortune, but because all the game shows are in CA. the people from the east coast do not have too many chances to participate. This would be great and good for the economy also. Thanks for the good news

(9) Dawn Mays says:

I think it is great!! I have tried out for the show twice and mailed in a tape.. It has been 2 years and 4 days since I interviewed with Neal Konstantini and played the mock game..I have stayed faithful and Determined to be a contestant.
Now that it will be in Connecticut I will beable to drive to see at least the filming of the show..
I want on the show so bad as does alot of others. I don’t care if it is daytime or primetime, I love the show….
Connecticut will be lucky to have the all the attention and visitors.. I wish them the best!!!

(12) Marie Banks says:

I have tried so many times to get on Deal or No deal and am very persistant, even went to audition in Culver City California.. Do we still have chances on being selected even though the show has moved! I’d be willing to go anywhere. I currently live in California. And am only a plane ride away!

(13) gameshows says:

Casting is now open – here are the details:

http://gameshows.about.com/b/2009/06/11/deal-or-no-deal-now-casting.htm

Marie, I would send in another application, and mention somewhere that you’re willing to travel to be on the show.

Best of luck!!

(14) Debbie F says:

Howdy,
I just want to say I auditioned for Deal or no Deal in Boston June 18th. It was a VIP casting. I made it to the final round. The casting directors said I should hear from them in a week to see if I made it on the show. They will be picking 22 people. Only 5 will get a chance to play and win money. The rest of the folks will hold the briefcases. This is for the day time show. They said they will start taping in Sept for night time.
I’ll let you know if they chose me.

Blessings to all who read this!!!!

June 21, 2009 at 7:14 am
(15) Debbie F says:

Correction on my previous post.
I made a mistake in saying they will start taping in Sept for night time. WRONG INFO. The sydicated shows will air in SEPT. start taping in the summer. Sorry for the mis info.

(16) jeff says:

What do u have to say at the audition? Please tell me what to say because i’m not quick witted. I too have a vip audition what does that consict of? Thanks for you help

June 23, 2009 at 6:51 am
(17) Debbie F says:

Hi Jeff,
Here is what happens. They will put you in a group of 10 people, then you will stand before the casting director. They will give you each 20 seconds to talk about yourself. Then after the whole room goes through that process they will call out the names of “the people they are looking for” and the rest go home. If they call your name you have to stay for 2 hours because they will then indiviually tape each person for 30 secs. They’ll also have you open up a case.

Okay….They love it when people smile. Show your personality. Its not really about wit, its about being happy and cheery. You’ll feel happy when your there because the atmosphere is exciting. Let me know how you made out!!! Best to you.

(18) gameshows says:

Debbie, congrats! Sounds like you had a great experience, and I hope you make it on the show. Let us know so we can tune in!

Jeff, Debbie gave you excellent advice (and thanks for posting that, Debbie). Jeff, just be yourself, and try not to look too nervous. You’re obviously excited to be going, so let that show. Be genuine. And best of luck to you!!

I am excited to be going but yet i am nervous i’m usually shy around people but i’m going to have to loose that.. i got the email saying its a vip and was told to send a email back but i didn’t get a cofrimation yet. Should i just show up if i don’t here from them? They sent me the place and the times? Also since i filled it online they have my application do they go from that? I’m So excited.. Maybe we will all be on the same show how cool would that be.

(20) Debbie F. says:

Thanks gameshows for your kind words. I promise I will let you know if I make it. I should hear from them this week.

Jeff…Go to the VIP casting. Trust me go. If they invited you, then your ok. When you 1st go there you will fill out a form. Then if you make it to the 2nd round you’ll need to fill out a lot of paperwork. I hope they’ll pick you. Are you going to New Jersey for the audition???
I want to encourage you. I pray the Lord will give you peace.

Yes Jeff. Wear something nice.

Eventually your nervousness will turn into excitement once your there. You’ll be fine.

June 24, 2009 at 9:50 pm
(23) jeff says:

Debbie,
one more question when you got the e-mail for the vip and it said to send a conframation e -mail back did you recieve anything back again?
i e-mailed back but didn’t recieve any thing back again, do i just print the e-mail that says i was invited to the vip auditions.
jeff

June 25, 2009 at 6:22 am
(24) Debbie F says:

Hi Jeff,
They did say to me….”you are confirmed Debbie”. However, I did print all the e-mails I got from them and bought it to the audition, jut in case. But they don’t even ask for it. When are you suppose to go? How long ago did you get the invite? Still go.
I’m the one that is kind of bummed now. I haven’t heard from DOND yet and that bugs me. They told me a week and today it has been exactly 1 week.

Can anyone give me an idea about how many people usually show up for an open casting call? Do they see speak to everyone that shows up?

(29) sue says:

I heard there were auditions in CT at the Irish Festival in North Haven this weekend, 6/27 is this true?

June 26, 2009 at 1:38 pm
(30) gameshows says:

Hi Sue – that’s right, there are open auditions being held at the North Haven Fairgrounds this Saturday.

Amy, Deal has always had a policy that they’ll see everyone who turns up for an open call. Sometimes that means that the calls themselves run late into the night. I’m not 100% positive that they still do this (for the syndicated show), but your chances of being seen by the show’s staff are very good.

Debbie,
Well i went and know luck got kicked out after the first round. I was myself i just couldn’t tell what they were looking for, some of the people they picked didn’t do anything that was better than myself and others. It was fun to go threw the process, and i would never do an open casting call, the vip was nice about 100 people and it went fast.. ooh well i glad i didn’t quit my job..lol
Thanks again for all your help and i hope they call you soon

(35) Debbie F says:

Thanks Jeff for basically telling me not to give up hope. 968 is a lot. I didn’t know that info. I did put the “A” on my application. The way I see it, if it is meant to be it will happen, if not, oh well.

I wish they had chosen you too. I’ll continue to post on here if I hear any news.

Tace Care!

(36) jeff says:

Debbie,
Have you heard anything yet? I think it will take awhile they probaly have to go threw all the tapes and then they will start to contact people. Good luck
Jeff

July 2, 2009 at 6:34 am
(37) Debbie F says:

Well Jeff, I actually called up the DOND studio. I wanted to know if they had picked the constestants yet for the new season. The lady told me they are in the middle of doing it now. So, I still have hope.
It looks like you are right. They still are looking at the tapes.

When I made it to the 2nd round we had to be interviewed in front of the camera and eventually open up a case. The casting guy came right out and said to me….”Debbie I like you!!!” They were busting me most of the time while I was in front of the camera. Although He did tell me at the end of the interview. “I did the worst job ever opening up the case.” I told him I don’t plan on opening up the cases, I plan on being a contestant. So….we’ll see Jeff.

July 2, 2009 at 6:57 am
(38) Debbie F says:

Hey, I just thought of something. That last comment the casting guy said to me…Well, that is exactly how the banker treats people. You know kind of mean. Because I didn’t mess up opening up the case at all.

Who knows what is going to happen. I feel like this is like a stinking soap opera. The supense, the waiting.

July 3, 2009 at 9:11 am
(39) joe says:

the casting guy told us if we’re not asked to stay, we still have a chance to be on the show, is that right?

July 6, 2009 at 9:41 pm
(40) jeff says:

Joe,
I really doubt it they have so many people that moved on infront of the camcorder, I think they just say that to calm the audience.
If that was so why do they do a casting call and make everyone stand infront of a casting director, They would just cast from your aplication. But maybe they would.

(43) Janet says:

Hi…Just wondering. my sister and mom also completed the application weeks after I did. I received the vip response for hartford, but I was wondering I had planned on having my sister come with me, not to be on but just to come with…can you bring friends just to hang around. If she comes do you think she can try to get on or do you have to have the email they sent?

July 9, 2009 at 9:47 pm
(44) jeff says:

Janet,
when i had a vip in ny they let anyone that came with u apply. Your sister should be fine.Good luck,
Jeff

July 10, 2009 at 6:42 am
(45) Debbie F says:

Hey Janet,
Actually I did bring a friend with me during the VIP audition. She was not interested in trying out. She just came to support me and drive into Boston with me. If she wanted to try out, then she could of I’m sure. Your friend can properly try out.

Jeff,
I just want to say I called the DOND studio again yesterday. The lady told me they still haven’t chosen or picked any of the contestants yet. There is hope for all of us!!!! BEST to you today.

Blessings to all!!!!

(46) Marjorie says:

Hi Debbie,

I also had a VIP audition in NYC on June 25th and was also wondering if I will get a call back! =) I was asked to stay longer for round 2 and the whole process took about 3 hours. I was trying to google the DOND contact information so I can call them. Could you give me their number? I’m surprised they haven’t even picked out contestants yet and you auditioned on June 18th! Still gives me hope! They said if they choose us, we will get a call by July 18th. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hope they choose me! All of my friends and family keep telling me that I will no doubt get a call back. I need to have that positive thinking! =)

July 10, 2009 at 4:32 pm
(47) jeff says:

Debbie,
well no luck for me again, But my friend made it threw he had a famous name, and they told them that they will be selecting at the middle of the month until december that if no one heard by december that they would not be on. They also said they would call ten days before you were going to be on so you can make arrangements to get there. So you guys that made it to round 2 you all still have a chance and will probally get called i think they go threw all the tapes again and make a selection.
I will not be auditioning for deal or no deal again. I’m giving up on that show but will be watching to see if u guys make it, i will also let you know if my friend gets a call.
Jeff

July 10, 2009 at 7:58 pm
(48) Debbie F says:

Hi Marjorie,
Congrats to you in making it to the final round. I’ll give you the DOND phone number. Its 1-860-442-4355. This is actually the # to Sonalysts Studio. When the operator answers the phone ask to be connected to the DOND studio and she’ll tranfer you. I am so glad you and Jeff gave more exact details on when the DOND casting crew will call the future contestants. I hope they pick you Marjorie.

Jeff,
Man oh Man I was hoping they would have picked you. You seem like a really nice guy. Hey you gave it your all. I give you credit for that.
So I have until December of this year, huh. Hmmm. That is fine.

Thanks for the helpful info. Again Jeff, I’m sorry.

July 11, 2009 at 10:16 am
(49) jeff says:

Debbie,
Yesterday they played a game for the 2nd round they had a t shirt and whoever was the loudest threw all the auditions when they were being taped they would give the t shirt to, And who ever ended up with it was the one person that was definitely gonna be on the show, so at the end of it a woman had it and the producer said you r gonna be on dond. I thought the producer was very cocky and he let you know that he was the boss and you needed to impress him and not the casting directors, I don’t know dond should get ride of this guy. I watched as he was rude to people and when he was tired of hearing them talked he just cut them off and said open the case. Ooh well debbie keep posting and let us no and i will let u no if mt friend gets called and marjorie also then you guys will no that atleast they are calling people now.
Thanks again for all your kind words,
Jeff

July 11, 2009 at 12:52 pm
(50) Debbie F says:

They played the same game with us too. Except for instead of using a tee shirt they used a roll of tape. I guess that is all they had at the time. So the last person who was holding the masking tape would make it on the show. The guy you were talking about sounds like the same person hosting my audition. I read before my audition the casting crew might try to embarrass you and see if you can take it. Because Howie Mandel likes to put people on the spot sometimes. I guess they want to see if you can roll with the punches. What is your friend’s name? or is it a secre? Tom Cruise??(kidding)

July 11, 2009 at 8:02 pm
(51) jeff says:

Debbie,
Yeah its famous but i don’t want to write it on here just incase they read these and don’t call him but if he gets called i will surely tell u then,I dont know how peole do these auditions all the time and get rejected. i cried the first time then i cried the second time i could never do this for a living the rejection is devastating. Ooh well i feel as if i made a friend here who would have thought. have a good one.

Went to an open casting call in NJ 2 weeks ago, but there were no cameras, cases or any mention of VIP!!!! After waiting in line for 5 hours, I made it through the first round, the second round with the casting producer and then the third and fourth round with one other guy. I was so excited that I did so great, but now I am reading about VIP auditions and cases!! Did anyone go to an open casting call and there was nothing but tables and casting people???

July 12, 2009 at 8:28 pm
(54) Waiting for the call says:

I also attended the NJ open tryouts 2 weeks ago. I made it through all the rounds and then went to a NYC callback on June 29, wwhich went exaactly as Jeff described in psot # 49 above, execpt the casting directors were not rude at all! They need a ton of people and everybody in the callback (approx 75 people) were really good so I think most of us will get that call, except maybe one guy who knocked over the case while he was talking .The told us we can expect calls anytime between mid July and mid December. If anyone who reads this gets a call please post it!!

July 12, 2009 at 8:42 pm
(55) jeff says:

Judy,
The vip auditions were for people that applied online only. These were invited guest to audition without the lines. Open casting is totally different. I know on the vip auditions the second round they took pictures of the people holding a sign with there address and phone number, then they were video taped for about 2 to three minutes, and then they were video taped opening the case.
Well all you guys have a chance so GOOD LUCK.

I thought I did really good, I even printed my application on bright orange paper so that I would stand out! They seemed to like me, but since I didn’t get a call back to NY, I will keep thinking positive, but move on to “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”!! PLEASE post if DOND calls you!! ANYONE who attended the NJ open casting, please let me know how you did!

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for their number Debbie! =) I called twice and the casting director is never there. I don’t want to leave a message, I want to talk to him. =) Thanks for wishing me luck. I think I stand out because I have a different story…being a youth pastor’s wife and a full-time nanny, that makes some great t.v.! =) My husband and my vision is to open up a youth center for the teens of northern NJ (I live less than an hour from NYC), and if I win any money, it will go towards that. More money, our student loans will be paid off. I always tell people that if I end up on the show, I would totally say “DEAL!” to $1,000. hahaha =)

I’ll let you guys know if they call me back! Hoping and praying! =)

Well Marjorie,
We have not only DOND in common but also have a love for the Lord in common too. Nice. I hosted a TV show called DRAW CLOSE TO THE LORD for 4 yrs. on my cable’s local cable station.
It was all volunteer. I did it for Jesus. It was fun. I took a break since March of doing the show. I would like to do it with a co-host. So, I’m waiting for the Lord to open up that door.

Seriously, let me know if you get a call from DOND. I’ll do the same.

May the Lord bless your husband in his ministry.

Is anyone aware of any upcoming VIP castings in Pittsburgh for Deal or No Deal?

July 18, 2009 at 10:18 am
(63) Carrie says:

Hi Scott – there’s an open casting call in Pittsburgh scheduled for July 25th, but the time and location is still listed on the website as “TBD.” I’m not sure about VIP auditions though.

You can check the website here: Deal or No Deal TV – there’s a small Casting Calendar link near the top (on the left) – to see if they update that listing. I’d also suggest you check your newspaper to see if it’s advertised, or call your local television station that carries the show to see if they know the details.

Good luck!

(67) Debbie F says:

Michelle,
Trust me when I say this. If you got an invite for a VIP DOND then go to it. I myself did the same thing you did. I called up the hotel where the vip dond was being held. The hotel staff had no clue that the vip audition was being held. DOND doesn’t want the word to get out where and when a VIP casting is being held because then every Tom, Dick, and Harry would try out for it. VIP is for a selected group. So, again just go to the audition. I was in the same boat as you. Lo and behold the VIP audition took place. Best to you. Remember, smile, smile smile!!!!

Michelle,
One more comment. Meredith Y. is most likely one of the casting directors. The casting director that e-mailed me was named Aaron.

I so excited for DOND! Anyone know where you would be able to get tickets to see a taping? I heard they are taping around Aug 12-15, and can’t seem to find tickets for then.

Michelle, I have a VIP audition also on July 23rd. And yes it was Meredith Young who sent me the emails. I am going.

Hello everyone! I canot tell how recent any of these comments were written. Today is 7/30. Has anyone heard back as of yet? I went to the Boston casting on 6/18 and was called back for the TV ready interview. I thought I did awesome…was wicked nervouse but went out on a limb. Initially I thought I kicked butt but now am second guessing myself….I am worried that I didn’t give them enough opportunity to ask me questions!I so want to be on this show as does everyone else! So…has ayone heard anything yet? Are htey taping yet? Thanks and good luck to EVERYONE!

(72) Waiting for the call says:

They began filming in CT on Tuesday.. I was one week behind you in NY and feel the same exact way. I thought I nailed the video audition and case opening.. now also second guessig myself. Just remember they need over 900 people so our odds have to be good. They only called back 160 people in NY, figure not much more than that in seven or eight other cities..plus they only call 2 weeks in advance. keep the faith. Has anyone else heard anything?

July 31, 2009 at 12:53 pm
(73) Debbie F says:

I heard nothing yet either. Just playing the waiting game.

July 31, 2009 at 7:46 pm
(74) Kim says:

I called the studio today and they did tell me that they started filming on Tuesday (much to my disappointment)! The person I spoke with told me that they film every other week. for 3 months. Boston was their first stop on the East coast and they told us on the last day that because of this we had a very good chance of getting on…don’t know why that would be the case but anyway…it doesn’t matter because we haven’t been called!!I keeping hoping. If nothing else, it was a fun couple of days of dreaming big! Good luck!

July 31, 2009 at 8:29 pm
(75) Debbie F says:

Hi Kim,
I was also in Boston June 18th on a Thurs. You were at the VIP one too? So they called you back and you went for a second interview? I thought the VIP was the final round and the next call back was to actually be on the show. Where did you go for your second interview. If you were there that day I’m sure I must of seen you. I wonder which one you were. I was the lady who was the 3-4 to the lsst to be taped and interviewed.

Hello everyone,

I recently sent in an online application. From the above posts, it seems that it is from those applications that people are invited to the vip auditions. If I am correct, how long was the wait between the sent application and the invite?

Thank you for your response.

Also, you guys are really helpful to each other. Good luck all.

(78) Debbie F says:

Hi Lynette,
I actually received a VIP invite by responding to a Craig List ad. They had us send a photo of ourselves and contact info. After I sent that I heard from them 3 days later to go to a VIP audition.
I read that DOND just taped a show “teachers week” at the new CT studio.

I’m still holding on for hope. I heard they are still auditioning.

Best to you.

Where, when etc? I’d appreciate any help anyone can give me! Also does anyone know if I hand in my application at the casting call or do I have to send one in prior? Thank you so much in advance for your help! Whoever helps me..if I get on the show and win a good amount of mone…I’ll share the wealth! haha :) Thanks so much!!! Can’t wait to hear back from someone or many! You all seem so great!

Hi,
What type of clothing do the women wear to the VIP auditions, esp. the ones that are selected for round 2? I have an audition tomorrow.

August 7, 2009 at 7:11 am
(84) Debbie F says:

Hi Karen,
When I went to my VIP audition, most women there wore casual dressing. The casting crew will notice your outfit but focus more on your personality and the confidence you have.

Best to you!!! : )

(85) suz says:

Hi! Are the VIP auditions when you get called back a 2nd time?
I am wearing a long balck maxi casual dress to the audition. Think this sounds okay? I love this dress but I want to be appropriate. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. :)

August 8, 2009 at 6:36 am
(86) Debbie F says:

Hi Suz,
Opening cast call is when you are going to audition amoung thousands of people. VIP audtions is when you audition with only about 100 people.

Wear whatever you feel comfortable with. If you stand out that is a plus.

Your outfit sounds nice.

Let us know your experience with this audition. :)

August 8, 2009 at 12:41 pm
(87) Suz says:

Hi Debbie. Thank you so much for writing back. Ok so do you think it is better to fill out my application on line and hope for a VIP invitation or should I just go to the casting call and fill out my application there? Thank you for any help sweetie :)

August 9, 2009 at 8:46 am
(88) Debbie F says:

Hey Suz,
Filling out an online application will not guarantee you a spot to audition. You are better off going to a casting call. Still fill out the online application. But don’t hold your breath.

Take it easy!! :)

(89) Ashley says:

I have a general question for anyone that can answer it. If there is an open casting call from 1-5, do you have to be there right at 1 or can you go at any time during those hours? Thanks for any help!!

(91) Kim says:

Debbie F…..sorry it took me so long to respond! I didn’t go to the VIP casting call. I went on the 20th. Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to the dates when I last write. I went on the Saturday. I made through the two rounds on Saturday and was called back on that Monday for the TV ready audition. I thought I was in but there were several other people there who had been to that point before and were not called! Bummer! So…I was discouraged because I was thinking that since Boston was their firs stop they would call people to be on the show in that order….I called the studio several times last week to try to talk to someone and found out they filmed only one week and it was “teachers week” so….I guess they don’t call in order by city (which if I really thought about it would have realized that probably wouldn’t be the case). I am still waiting and hoping. I am wicked excited about the possibility of it!

(92) Suz says:

Thank you for all your help Debbie F! Ok, one last hting (I hope :) …I can fill out the application at the casting call or would it be better if I filled mine out at home and brought it with me?

Hey folks, this is Carrie, the author of the blog here. :-)

I wondered if those of you who have been to a casting call, whether open or VIP, would be able to help out with something. I’ve written an article here:

What to Expect at a ‘Deal or No Deal’ Casting Call

At the end of the article, there’s a link where you can share your own tips on any aspect of Deal or No Deal casting calls (what to wear, how early to show up, how to make a great impression, etc). Here’s the direct link to that form:

Readers Respond: Tips for ‘Deal or No Deal’ Casting Call Auditions

I’d really like these to be useful resources for everyone who wants to be a contestant on the show! If you could spare a few moments, please share some of your excellent information.

Thanks so much, and I wish you all the very best of luck!

I went to the VIP audition in Pittsburgh and made it through both rounds. They said they would be calling people in a few weeks but I never got a call. I thought I did great. How long are they calling people for? I heard only the first few weeks after your audition and I also heard up until December?? What did anyone else hear?

August 19, 2009 at 8:45 pm
(104) Debbie F says:

Hi Jay,
Sorry I know no info about the newlywed show. I hope you well though.

I am thrilled I just came across this blog today!! I live in North Haven and went to the open call at the Irish Festival at the end of June. A couple of years ago, I had filled out the very long(about ten pages) application they used to have online; I updated that and brought it with me and they took the entire thing. There were just over 5,000 people that went thru the process, but it was not as involved as the ones described above.

Anyway, I have been bummed all summer that I wasn’t called; but your comments give me renewed hope! Many people came up to me and said they thought I would definitely get called. I am a teacher, but do clowning part time, and 95% of me was my alter ego, Star the Clown. She is not a scary clown at all and most people really love her!! She’s only 4 1/2 years old, and was extremely disappointed at being rejected!
Anyway, I thought about going again (just as myself), to Foxwoods today, but I figure there are probably at least twice as many people as there were in North Haven. I also don’t know how they view people who show up repeatedly!
I appreciate all the info. Best of luck to all!!

Thanks for the info all. The casting guy that we had said would get a call no sooner than 2 weeks and no later than 3 months. So if 3 months goes by with no call forget it! I just think our odds are good 1st because we did good I believe and 2nd because it’s for a specialty week with newlyweds only so I cannot see them casting for weeks and weeks just to find 1 weeks’ worth of newlyweds to make it through. I am guessing they only casting for this special a few days to a week. Guess time will tell, the soonest we can get a call is this coming Thursday. Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone,

I attended the Open Call at Foxwoods yesterday (August 20th) and was lucky enough to get a callback which was today at 2:00 for me. It was an amazing experience. Grantjgk was spot on with what he said. Minimum of two weeks, max of 3 months to hear. I’m curious though as to how many actual people were in the same position I was today.

My full name is Anthony Politelli. If anyone else was at call backs today please Facebook me! I’d love to talk with you and discuss how everything went today!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Goodluck everyone!!

I haven’t heard anything yet but I wanted to ask you if you were held back yesterday after your audition to talk to more casting people or did you just get a call today without being held back? II had a blast yesterday!! We were 20th in line. I wonder if I saw you. I am thrilled for you. Write back when you can!! :)

Mel…that is so awesome!!

How did it go?

Do they tell you not to talk about it to others until after the show actually airs? Who actually called you? I hope you got to play..I am excited for you! What day were you called back to do the camera interview….I wonder if we were together. I would love to watch the show when your on!

Anthony, 1st off congratulations! So you basically got a call back the very next day? Do you think that was chance when they normally take 2 weeks? What kind of casting was it? Single contestant or a special week? Either way that’s great news! All the best. This Thursday according the casting director we had is the earliest we could receive a phone call but who knows now if you got one the very next day!

Thanks,

Jay

(112) Anthony says:

Thanks guys!

No, after going through 2 rounds on August 20th I was taken behind a black curtain and given a callback for the following day (21st). On the 21st I was scheduled for 2:00 where it was me and maybe 50 other people. We were recorded doing a short interview, and opening a case up. Everyone was encouraged to be as loud as possible for as long as possible. From here, they said that they would be casting and if they wanted you for a show they would called you in a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 3 months! It seemed like they would be casting for some themed shows, i heard rumors of a pregnant women show, a teachers show, a Redsox and Yankees show…who knows! I’m crossing my finger though that I get a call soon!

August 24, 2009 at 11:06 am
(113) Suz says:

Anthony that is soooo awesome. You must of been so happy. I waited in line for 12 hours! I think I did pretty good. I had a “theme” but not sure if it was what they were looking for but I was just being honest. I told the cast member that I am crazy in love with my boyfriend and that we want to get married in the Bahamas with all our close family and friends (like 20 people) and right now I can’t even afford to bring me! I also said that I am a HUGE Bon Jovi fan and if I won enough money I’d like to hire him to sing at our wedding :) I am a single mom but I forgot to say that! I just said I had 2 amazing teenagers! Well I have been praying hard everyday so I hope it helps. I wish you all the luck in the wolrd too Anthony! I am really happy for you! If anyone hears of any more casting calls please let me know. I’d love to go to another one. Maybe it will increase my chances!

I would be a perfect contestant haha. I want to marry my boyfriend in the Bahamas and have a beautiful wedding with my friends and family but could never afford to..and if I make enough hire Bon Jovi to sing at our wedding! :)

I was called to do the show on August 12. I got to the studio and was given #28. That meant I was an alternate. I was bummed out since I drove 3 hours to get there. The producer told us in the AM meeting that alternates were lucky because they will be called back and promised to be on all 5 shows. I also got an e-mail that I will be on Season 3. Many of the contnestants that day actually held cases on previous shows and were called back again. Some came to CT from CA. I’ll let you know what happens. SUe

Hi,

I have a few questions. I wanted to be on the DOND Prime Time show but am unure where I should send my tapes. To the Conneticut studio; and if so, what is the adress to the Conneticut studio?

If I don’t send it to the Conneticut studio, then where do I send the tape for the Prime Time show? I know it is on even though a lot of people said it wouldn’t be anymore.

Thanks alot…someone please help me!

Hi Erika,

The prime time show was canceled at the end of last season, so it’s no longer on the air. (There are still reruns being broadcast on GSN and other channels, but there are no new episodes being filmed.)

If it comes back, even as a short-run event, we’ll be covering that extensively here, including how you can apply to be a contestant.

Carrie
