Did you see Don't Forget the Lyrics on Friday night? Did ya? Wow! What an episode!Contestant Dottie Harris, who has a lovely singing voice and fabulous sense of humor, worked her way up to $500,000 in prize money despite running into a few brick walls along the way. On her very first song she messed up, but saved herself with one of the game's safety nets and a lot of luck. At the $350,000 level, she went completely blank and didn't know any of the nine missing lyrics to The Doobie Brothers' "Takin' it to the Streets." Fortunately, support person Dave knew the line and Dottie moved on. She nailed the last song, Billy Joel's "My Life," and decided to walk away with her cool half million and not risk it in the final, million dollar question. Congratulations, Dottie!
It was exciting to watch a contestant win that much money, a first for the show, but it was so much more fun because Dottie was the kind of contestant that producers dream about. She was both humble and confident, and so easy to warm up to. And host Wayne Brady adored her too. She admitted that, even though she's "Dottie the hottie with the great body," she'd like to have less of that body and would put some of her winnings towards gastric bypass surgery. I think FOX is missing a golden opportunity if they don't at least try to follow her through this experience for some kind of docu-reality show.

I am a close friend of Dottie Harris and the wife of her back-up Dave. We have a bond like no other and would do anything for her. She’s the real deal! Dottie is having her by-pass surgery today! She wasn’t nervous going in, she’s really looking forward to a new life with her kids.
She was fantastic, a REAL person and I fully expect to see more of her in the future–not literally–I hope she gets a chance to do something with that voice. This was the first time I watched the whole show.
Dottie had her surgery this week. All her friends in Vegas are very happy for her. It could not happen to a nicer and more deserving person. What you saw on TV was only a small percentage of who Dottie is.
That’s wonderful news Donna! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. We’re pulling for Dottie here – she was amazing to watch.
I have known Dottie all my life. We grew up at Star Bethel Baptist Church and attended Oakland Technical High School. In fact, she was my commander in Junior ROTC. Dorthette named for her
beloved GrandMother Dorothy Harris…and my Granny. DFTL was a snippet the best is yet to come.
Dottie was amazing. She totally seems like someone I’d like to know. My family watched this episode together – we were all so into it. I am really rooting for Dottie to be successful with the surgery. We hope to see her on TV again soon!
Hello all, This is Dottie (Dorothette) Harris. I must say that all of you are so kind and sweet. I thank God for such incredible loving people in this world. My children are much more outgoing then I am, and they found a lot of articles about me, and sense all of you have been so kind as to leave such words of encouragement, I feel like I have a duty to respond, and say Thank You and God Bless. So many times you hear such hurtful things come out of the mouths of people, it really makes me smile to hear nice things from both people I know and even those whom I don’t. My Dear Donna & Dave no one could love you more then me, heavens has to be missing a few Angels, and you are with me. Michael you will always be special in my heart. To all of you out there I have lost 28 pounds since November 14, 2007. God Bless You All

I am in Australia and only saw Dottie’s
amazing episode a couple of weeks ago. My daughter and I were screaming and on the edge of our seats. What an amazing, beautiful woman. You deserved the win and the joy that went with it.
I hope this is the start of a better life for you and your family, there would not be a person on this planet that begrudges you a thing.
I agree with Marianne above, come on down to Australia and be greeted with open arms. what a voice, what a heart, what a soul your love of life shines through. I wish you an amazing future.

Hello to all of you out there. Believe it or not this is Dottie. I am sorry it took me so long to get back to you after the show aired in Australia, but I did not know until someone from there found me on myspace. So ofcourse my kids found all of the new comments from the wonderful people down under, and here I go.
It never ceases to amaze me that there are so many well wishers out there. All I can say is my cup runneth over. While reading all of the comments I was smiling so big my cheeks were tired. I would love to visit and find each and everyone of you just to give you a big kiss. I am doing great, but we did have a bit of bad news this week, my granny that I spoke about on the show, Mrs. Chestnut passed.
She had surgery to remove her leg on December 26, 2007 and she was doing great. She would wave her leg in the air and say look at my nub. LOL She finally made it home on last Saturday. Please do not mourn for her she left this world happy and in peace. She went to bed this past Tuesday night, and woke up in the arms of the Lord. There was nothing, but the look of peace on her face. God answered my prayers because she did not suffer.
You may wonder how I am doing, I am bless and down 102 pounds as of 2-1-2008. Check out my myspace or dottieharris.net to see updated photos, and shoot me an email. Once again thank you for your kind words and my prayers are with each of you.
God Bless
Dottie The Hottie with not as much Body!!! LOL
Dottie it’s wonderful to hear from you again! I’m so sorry to hear of your loss – it sounds like Mrs. Chestnut had a wonderful sense of humor, and I’m glad she didn’t suffer. My condolences go out to you and your family.
Congratulations on your weight loss so far! That’s terrific news, and I hope it continues for you.
Thanks again for the update – I know many people have been curious as to how you’ve been doing!
Carrie
I sat next to you on the flight from Las Vegas to New Orleans, you were on your way to Orlando after missing your flight because the attendant misplaced your I.D. I didn’t know anything about you or your game show success at the time but I immediately got the feeling you were a special person. I think I am a better person for the short period of time I spent with you. Bless you and your family. Mike
Hello Mike, Your comments touched my heart. I always try to surround myself with good people and I truely enjoyed being around you. I pray all went well on your trip. I had a ball in Florida inspite of the shaky start. Please keep in touch.
Smooches Dottie
Dear Dottie. Your show finally landed in Kenya this weekend. Like eons later. But I enjoyed every bit of it. I had to search on the internet for Dottie Harris. And by chance I landed on this blog site. It was good to see that many people think you are special. You are a lovely person. Am happy for you and God bless.
“A number one hit.”
And I’m supposed to risk $400,000 of my own money on this, when I’m highly likely to not know a word?
This is the reason why DFTL’s format is failing. AYS allows the contestant to at least know the subject and to either have some choices to pick from or to pull some name out of a hat. Here, if you don’t know it, you don’t know it. Period.
How few millionaires would WWTBAM have if nobody guessed the final question, and just the people that knew stone-cold answered it?
I have come to know Dottie Harris. I was recently music director for an amazing show directed by Pepper Von and DOTTIE was on stage with us singing and blessing people! I’m not sure if video is ready yet but you can check it out at: http://www.letsgomusical.com

Hi Dottie,
Your show was aired here in New Zealand lastnight and I can’t say how happy I was for you to have such a great win and what an awesome lady you are and so deserving of that win. I loved every second of the show and you have an amazing singing voice.
I have a wonderful African American friend from Laweranceburg Tennessee and have had her to visit our beautiful country. All the best Dottie and love to you and all your family.
Cheers Nola.
