CBS has ordered six episodes of Million Dollar Password, a game based on the original Password game show that debuted in 1961. Million Dollar Password will be hosted by the ever-popular Regis Philbin and is set to air mid-season in 2008.The show features two teams made up of one celebrity and one contestant each, going head to head to figure out passwords. After a successful run from 1961 to 1967, the show was revived for four additional seasons from 1971 to 1975. But wait, there's more! Password was revamped and repackaged a couple more times, and aired as both Password Plus and Super Password in the 80s.
Million Dollar Password will once again be bringing celebrities on board to try and help contestants win big money. With a larger payout and new twists, and Regis at the helm, the show already has "big hit" written all over it. Let's just hope that they don't try to dumb it down to appeal to a wider audience.
